Poor Quality Duct Work Cleaning : Is it Worse Than No Duct Cleaning?

Duct Work Cleaning is an essential part of maintaining a safe and healthy workplace.  And it is for good reason that it is a legal requirement to carry out Duct Work Cleaning at least every two years.  Even with a regular regime, the dust and debris that builds up inside your ventilation ducts can cause serious issues, so it is important that they are thoroughly cleaned throughout.

This makes choosing a best in class Duct Work Cleaning company an equally high priority.  Not only should the company be HVCA registered, it is important to check credentials and references to ensure the work that is carried out is up to scratch.  If it isn’t, while your business may be legally covered, your ducts could still be putting your workforce and your livelihood at risk.

The breakdown of a ventilation system could cause serious inconvenience and possibly even loss of earnings, while corrosion within the system can be expensive to repair.

And the risks don’t stop there.  Without Duct Work Cleaning, the dust and debris inside the pipes create the perfect breeding ground for bacteria and germs, leading to poor air quality and potential health problems ranging from colds and flu right through to the spread of MRSA in more sensitive environments such as hospitals and care homes.  Fire is an equally potent and serious threat.

What's worse, if you have had your Duct Work Cleaning done regularly, you have all your paperwork in order and have ticked all the legal boxes, but the work has been done by a company with poor standards, all of these are a totally invisible risk to you.

Luckily, avoiding these pitfalls is relatively easy, by asking a few questions before employing a new Duct Work Cleaning company.

Finding out whether the company is HVAC qualified, as well as whether they are safe contractor approved, should always be your first query, as this is a vital part of the legal requirement and will give you peace of mind knowing that the company is regulated.

It is also good to know how long the Duct Work Cleaning process will take and what it will entail - this will give you a really good indication of whether it will be done properly, especially when compared against other proposals.

Finally, it is worth checking whether the price is guaranteed and if you are assured of work satisfaction.

At Ingot Services, our references speak for themselves.  We are fully HVCA qualified and have over 25 years’ experience working with businesses across the spectrum.  We won’t be beaten on price and we guarantee to hold our quoted price for three years.  To find out more or to arrange a quote for your Duct Work Cleaning  from Ingot Services visit www.ingotservices.co.uk

Choosing a Duct Cleaner - Things to Look Out For

Nobody would argue that it’s good to keep your commercial premises spotless, but your Duct Work Cleaning is not just a nice to have.  Keeping your ducts clean is a must - eliminating the risk of fire and microbiological contamination, as well as providing a safe working environment.  And controlled by very stringent guidelines set out in the 1974 Health and Safety at Work Act and the 1992 Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Act, your Duct Work Cleaning must be carried out at least once every two years by properly qualified professionals.

So what should you look out for when choosing your duct cleaner?

Qualifications

In order to be compliant, your ducts must be cleaned to HVCA specifications and guidelines, so it’s essential to ensure your Duct Work Cleaning company is fully qualified and accredited.  Membership of the H&VCA can only be achieved via approved qualification or experienced practitioner routes, so it’s a good accreditation to look out for.

As well as being fully HVCA registered, Ingot Services is a member of the Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme and a Safe Contractor Registered firm.

You will also receive a certificate upon completion of your Duct Work Cleaning, as well as advice on an appropriate cleaning schedule.

Experience

Over time ducts gather dust and debris which need to be completely removed.  Not only are these a very real fire hazard, they can also breed bacteria and mould which are then carried out through the duct work with the ‘clean’ air causing serious health issues.

So checking the experience of your Duct Work Cleaning company, how long they have been operating, and investigating their references is a good idea to ensure that the work is done to the highest of standards.
With over 25 years’ experience Ingot Services has an enviable reputation for high quality work. We have clients throughout the UK, and our relationships stand the test of time. Coventry City Council Endorses Ingot Services with Renewed Contract

Thriving Suffolk Company proves continued success by once again winning a prestigious contract with Coventry City Council to provide kitchen extract cleaning for all its commercial kitchens.
The contract was, as before, put out to tender and Ingot’s professionalism, competitive pricing and high standards once again won through as they did in 2009.
Ingot’s Managing Director Alan Maynard explains: “We have had a fantastic relationship with the city council since 2009 and we are all delighted to have been given the green light to continue to work together.”
Coventry’s Council is responsible for over 340 schools and other social care sites, including retirement homes and community centres.
Alan continues: “The council wanted one company to carry out the cleaning and maintenance for all their kitchens, working to a planned schedule to suit each venue and site manager.”
Ingot’s certified kitchen cleaning service complies fully with both Fire and Health and Safety legislation and on completion of each kitchen extract cleaning job for Coventry City Council, the site is left in an immaculate condition. The pre and post pictures and certificates are then sent to both to the authority’s central body and to each individual site.
“We will continue to demonstrate our rigorous high standards and I am delighted that we can carry on working together,” concludes Alan.
